BLW's Fall from Grace

St. Patrick's Day approaches, and Barbara's sulpherous bowel disorder shows no signs of abatement. Even so, she works away tirelessly on the 4th floor of the library, a creeping trepidation marching over her quivering appendages. Her mind floods with gruesome images of a cramped 4th floor under the watchful eye of a rigid and uncompromising martinet whose main goal in life is to live the letter of the law and squelch the unfortunate masses under the heal of her sensible shoe. "I don't need an office," she croaked unflatteringly at the last meeting, the thought of an unimpeded view for her watchful eye titillating her irascible disposition.

BLW opens the miniature microwave to remove the tiniest bag of popcorn imaginable. The smell wafts toward the open door of the Martinet. Within seconds, there is a skirmish in front of BLW's desk. The Martinet scolds her menacingly, quoting rules, regulations and policies, and threatening to have the microwave removed along with the dwarf refrigerator as well. During the Martinet's tirade, BLW turns her back on the banshee and takes the opportunity to relieve her quaking body of excess gas by pretending to pick a wayward kernel of popcorn from the floor.

BLW returns from the bathroom to discover that her microwave, refrigerator and most of her personal items have been removed from her desk. Incensed, she heads to the breakroom and returns with monstrous tray of corned beef and day-old cabbage. She sits at her desk and toys with her odiferous repast, stewing away as she thinks of how to recover what is rightfully hers. Volcanolike, the penetralia of her viscera begin to boil.

A shrill, braying and stertorous laugh bombasts forth from the Martinet's soon-to-be demolished office. An early garbage pick-up has been arranged. BLW is destined to sit in a bleak, policy-infested workplace without her precious things about her. Or is she???
